Thrush is a fungal infection caused by Candida. Its scientific name is candidiasis. It can affect different parts of the body like skin, genital, digestive tract. In babies who are breast fed it can affect their mouth and also mother’s breast.

One tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar in a cup of warm water is a good mouth rinse. It should be used four times a day. One can also drink 8-oz of this solution once a day. It has natural enzymes which prevents the growth of Candida in the body.

Another solution is usage of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide solution to rinse mouth several times a day.

Rinsing mouth with warm salt water is also very helpful in this condition. It can be done several times in a day.

A solution of baking soda in warm water is another alternative. It should be used three times a day in the beginning and then decreased to once a day until the symptoms are finished. One can also brush ones teeth with baking soda once a day.

Adults can also take acidophilus capsules or liquid available in the market. It does not destroy the fungus but it restores the normal bacteria in the mouth.

Using an over-the-counter oral rinse made with a concentrate of stannous fluoride is very effective. It works for eight hours. For first three days it should be used three times a day. For the next three days two times a day. For the next five days once before going to bed. One should properly rinse mouth for 1 minute. One should not eat or drink anything for 15 minutes after rinsing.

Oral sprays are also used during thrush. People experience dryness in mouth and sprays provides required moisture to it. It can be used throughout the day as and when required.

Sugar free lozenges can also keep the mouth moist by preventing the growth of thrush.

It is a condition which can be avoided by being little conscious and aware about the remedies which are very simple. If left unattended the situation can be harmful.
